Historical note: the best known French Knight of St John at this date is Fra Anselme de Cays (died 1710) whose marble floor tomb in St Johns Co-Cathedral in Valletta is inlaid with a scythe bearing skeleton and the warning - "Qui me calcas calcaberis" or "He who treads on me will be trodden upon"
Drawer lining probably replaced 19thc
