Stuart Nicolson Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.

The three frieze drawers with mahogany linings with typical & at the early stages regarded as unique to GILLOWS construction method of sliding notched screws to secure drawer bottom. This allowed the timber to both expand and contact thus eliminating splitting encountered when drawer bottoms were just nailed into the back rail with cut steel screws.
