Christopher Buck Antiques Ltd. has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The top has two drop leaves which fold down enabling storage against a wall, and is supported on a simple four leg base which provides rigidity and allows for easy seating all the way round.

Probably of French origin and made about 1840. Large circular tables of this age are extremely rare, seating eight in comfort and a 'cosy' ten. It would work equally well in a contemporary dining room, a country farmhouse or a swish open-plan kitchen.
