Description

Highest quality mid 19th century ENGLISH kingwood and ormulu mounted round centre table in the French style. Nice shaped legs veneered at 45 degrees all round in kingwood with a super quality gilded ormulu mount, moulding and foot. The round top has been quarter veneered in mirror fashion also in kingwood and has a nice shape gilded brass moulding around the edge. The freize has a very pleasing kick down shape where it meets the legs on all sides. Each section of the freize has a very nice gilded urmulu moulding to it. The underneath of the table is oak.

Most of this type of furniture you see around is late 19th to, in many cases, 20th century but this table is definitely a lot earlier than that, the quality of the urmulu is superb and way better than the later stuff.

The table is in very good condition, the gilding could be brightened up if you wanted but personally I like it as it is. There are a couple of minor veneer repairs required to one leg but this is included in the price.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
