Great size early 19th century French cherrywood farmhouse coffee table with a single drawer and also at one end, you have a chestnut pull out slide for additional surface. Circa 1820.
Very decorative and really lovely provincial farmhouse style, showing lots of character and age related marks, but has been fully cleaned and has had numerous coats of beeswax polish to bring up this great colour tone.
Originally, this would have been a taller table and as you may well know, coffee tables didn''t really exist at this time, so this has been lowered at some point and works really well with its generous proportions.
Perfect size coffee table for a three seater sofa, or if you just like lots of room for the usual coffee table paraphernalia!
The chestnut pull out slide to one end would have been used for carving, but now can be whatever you need it to be, but it''s a nice feature and makes it a bit different. There is a single drawer which is almost the full depth of the table, so
...gives good storage.
The top of the coffee table is made up of just three solid cherrywood planks and has some fantastic grain patterns. Hopefully you can see from the photos some of the age and use this has had over the last 200 years, although it has been well looked after!
Standing on four classic French provincial tapered legs.
Measuring:
20” or 51cm high
27 3/4” or 70.5cm wide
62 1/2” or 159cm long
22” or 56cm pull out slide length
