This really is an oustanding quality and condition c19th English Campaign writing table by the very well respected and documented maker, Finnigans Ltd of Manchester, circa 1860.
Campaign furniture was always made to the very highest standards, but there are still stand out pieces amongst familiar styles, such as this with the additional shell and fan motif inlaid to both sides of the box and also the condition and originality of the interior, for example still retaining its original ink well with remnants of old ink!
The box is opened with the original key and push button for release and then the top clicks into place to give a sturdy surface. You will then see on the underside, there are two further brass push buttons to release the top and close it up.
Super condition and has cleaned and polished up very well, although I have left the interior as found, which appeals to my own taste, but if you would prefer this to be coloured and waxed, this can be done.
