Superb Quality Near Pair of Early 19thc French Empire Mahogany Console Tables

A superb quality near pair of early 19th century (circa 1810) French Empire mahogany console tables of typical Egyptian influence.

This near pair of console tables were undoubtedly made by the same cabinet maker/workshop as they are extremely similar with identical mounts and quality or timber, very similar inlaid decoration, possibly originally made for the same property but for separate rooms, just slightly differering in dimensions but working very well as a pair.

The pair of tables consist of original St Anne grey marble tops, both in good original condition (with one old repair and small chips) leading down to a concealed frieze drawer to the front with recessed panel surrounded by brass moulding with fine quality brass inlaid decoration to either side, one table having a diamond design with inlaid floral design, the other a rectangular panel with inlaid floral decoration, the sides of each table also having a recessed panel surrounded by brass moulding.

This leading down to tapered supports to the front with female gilt bronze mounts to the top in the Egyptian style with tapered panel of inlaid ebony and brass harebell decoration and brass stringing supported by bronze feet with brass moulding, the supports to the back also with inlaid brass stringing with brass moulding.

The supports leading down to a shelf below with brass moulding to the edge with an applied superbly figured shaped mahogany panel with brass moulding, both tables supported by four ebonised feet.

This pair of tables are in very good condition for age with evidence of some old repairs, they are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
