Here is a fine quality antique English George III mahogany side table, circa 1790, displaying a lovely golden colour, in good original condition.

Description:

Here is a fine quality antique English George III mahogany side table, circa 1790, displaying a lovely golden colour, in good original condition. The table boasts a two-plank top with a simple edge, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer boasts the original swan neck brass handles & escutcheons and is decorated with a narrow, stained ebony string inlay to the drawer front. The pine-lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints, runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below the drawer, the table features a straight apron with a bead moulded frieze. The table is raised on four straight, tapering block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:

This table is in good original condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and inside of drawer, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer boasts the original swan neck brass handles & escutcheons. The drawer retains the original working lock (with key). The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. The table has a fantastic mellow colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
