Description

Fine classical design Scottish Regency rosewood veneered sofa table. Made in Edinburgh this classical sofa table is a great design, typical of Edinburgh pieces of the time. It is veneered on mahogany throughout. It has two drawers, both at the same side with dummy drawers to the reverse, which are mahogany lined with their original brass locks and their original gilded brass knobs. The base of the table is a lovely design with long sweeping legs inlaid with boxwood stringing and terminating with their original brass claw castors. The two leaves are help up by wooden lopers that form part of the frieze when open which is a very pleasing feature. The top has a crossbanded edge with boxwood string to the corner. The table is a pleasing colour for rosewood with good patination and a waxed finish.

There are a couple of minor old veneer repairs and a couple of old stains to the top but other than that the table is in very good condition. No damage to the legs and it is very sturdy.

SIZE; When fully open it is 56" wide by 26" deep by 28" high. With the leaves down it is 36" wide.
