Charles Hindley & Sons were established at 32 Berners Street, London, originally as carpet and rug manufacturers, later taking over the Oxford Street cabinet-makers Miles & Edwards in 1844. Hindleys were a noted firm of furniture makers, receiving the Royal Warrant and a place at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
