Description:
Here is a primitive antique English George II oak occasional side table, circa 1720, displaying a lovely rich colour, in good original condition. A table of this type would have been made for a simple country dwelling. The table incorporates a simple elm triple-plank top, with a generous overhang, above a straight apron. Below is an open shelf, which secures the four simple tapering block legs. The table features the original top; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
Condition Report:
This table is in good condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks (scratches / water marks etc. to the top) and leading edges (please see photos). It appears a child has carved their initials into the top at some point in its long history (see photos). Historical signs of woodworm - the table has been thoroughly treated. Please remember this table is nearly 300 years old! The three-plank top is original. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic deep rich colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
