Georgian Mahogany Oval Inlaid Pembroke Table

A beautiful example of a Georgian pembroke table in mahogany. The table is oval in outline, and stands on straight tapered legs which are line inlaid in boxwood on the edges. The table retains the original brass castors beautifully in proportion to the rest. The legs terminate at inlaid boxwood pateraes and the drawer is then crossbanded in kingwood. The drawers retain the original 'Prince of Wales feather's' motif handles. The table is finished in exactly the same way on both ends though one side has a faux drawer and the other one is true, which has a working key. The top is in beautifully figured mahogany and is again crossbanded in kingwood.

The most elegant of designs and a classic of English furniture. The table is in excellent condition with some minor old repairs but nothing of any great note. C.1800.
