Description:

Here is a fine quality antique English George III oak provincial side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely deep rich colour, in good original condition. The table incorporates a simple three-plank top, above a single flush working drawer. The drawer retains the original brass patterned handles on circular escutcheons. The pine-lined drawer is constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints and is decorated with a cock-beaded front. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below the drawer, the table features a pretty shaped apron. The table is raised on four straight, chamfered block legs, which are united by simple stretchers for additional strength. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:

This table is in good condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and inside of drawer (see photos), but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer retains the original brass patterned handles on circular escutcheons. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic deep rich colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
