Description

Fine pair of Edwardian period, George III style mahoany and inlaid tea tables by MAITLAND & GLASCOE of LONDON. These are a fine quality pair of tables made around 1900 - 1920 by a very fine cabinet making firm who were renowned for making very good copies of Georgian furniture. These tables have square tapering legs with collars near the bottom and have boxwood stringing to all corners. The rectangular tops with curved corners have cross banded edges with boxwood stringing. The tops have a sgemented type design with an oval in the middle with boxwood and more fancy line inlays. The tables are double gated so both back legs swing round when they are opened.

Over the years the tables have mellowed on the outside to a very nice colour. The insides are obviously the much darker original colour as it doesn't look like they have ever been opened in their lives.

It is very nice to get a PAIR of very good size tables that are at an affordable price made by one of the top London Cabinetmaking firms of the early 20th century.
