Description

Circa 1820, George IV pollard oak oval breakfast table by William Trotter of Edinburgh. The oval shaped top is in mahogany with quarter veneers and a selection of timbers, with a large ebonised string inlay. The fore edge is veneered in the same pollard oak veneer, above a recessed panel and classic William Trotter beading framing the bottom of the apron. The under carriage has also been veneered and it has a large block with 2 brass clips and a large sprung clasp for holding the top in position. The rectangular base tapers from top to bottom in similarly selected veneers and stands on a raised concave platform with 4 large squat bun feet and brass castors beneath. A rare William Trotter table, which would seat 8 people.
