Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English George III oak occasional side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely mellow honey colour, in excellent condition. A table of this type would have been made for simple country dwelling. The table incorporates a twin-plank moulded edge, above a single working drawer. The drawer incorporates an old replacement brass handle and back plate, which was probably added during the early Victorian period. The pine-lined drawer is constructed with hand dovetail joints and the drawer is finished with a scribe-moulded front. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. The table displays a simple frieze below the drawer, decorated with shaped corner blocks, raised on four chamfered block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner for that period. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:
This table is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, drawer front and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer features an old replacement brass handle and back plate (possibly replaced in the Victorian period). The table features the original top and backboard to the rear. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional joined manner. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic mellow colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
