Gillows Burr Walnunut Octagonal Coffee Table

19th century
Description

FINE quality GILLOWS of LANCASTER (stamped underneath) walnut and burr walnut veneered coffee table. Nice deisgn turned walnut base with gilded decoration and original brass cup castors. Octagonal top with moulded edge veneered in stunning burr walnut with purple heart banding to the edge and a burr elm and marquetry inlaid bandung further in. The top is veneered on mahogany. There is an old filled crack to the top that doesn't show too badely, other than that the table is in very good condition. A very useful size.

The table is a beautiful mellow colour with waxed finish.

It is stamped GILLOWS LANCASTER on one of the bearers under the top as pictured.
