Victorian Oak Extending Dining Table & 2 Leaves by James Morrison, 8ft, Seats 10

A super Scottish Victorian extending dining table in golden quarter-sawn oak and by James Morrison of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The D-ended rectangular top with a double moulded edge and standing on four ring turned tapering legs with brass caps and brown pottery castors. The ‘screw expander’ winding mechanism smoothly extends the table from just under 5ft to 8ft allowing it to seat 10 with both leaves inserted (one or two leaves can be used). Sympathetically cleaned and repolished using traditional methods to highlight the grain and give a deep honey oak colour to the top, medullary rays from the quarter-sawn cut of the oak produce the attractive ‘tiger grain’ pattern. It comes with it’s winder handle, the runners are stamped ‘J Morrison / 800’ whilst the leaf edges are also stamped ‘800’ and numbered.
