Description:

Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian oak occasional side table, circa 1800, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a twin-plank top, with ovolo-moulded edge, above two working drawers, incorporating later brass swan neck handles & shaped escutcheons. The handles were probably added during Victorian times. The pine-lined drawers are constructed with fine hand dovetail joints and the drawer fronts are decorated with cock beading. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The table stands on four tapering block legs. The table retains the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional manner for that period. Ideal for use a side table in a hallway, or even a small writing desk. The desk is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:

This table is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, drawer fronts and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawers are in good working order; they retain the original drawer linings, and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature old replacement brass handles and escutcheons (possibly replaced in the Victorian period). The table features the original top and backboard to the rear. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frame has been constructed in the traditional manner for that period. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic mellow colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
