The Joseph Fitter ‘screw expander’ winding mechanism smoothly extends the table from just under 5ft to 10ft allowing it to seat 10 to 12 people with all three leaves inserted (any number of leaves can be added to give the required size). Sympathetically cleaned and repolished using traditional methods to give a good soft honey oak colour to the top, medullary rays from the quarter-sawn cut of the oak produce the attractive ‘tiger grain’ pattern to the top. It comes with a winder handle. The mechanism stamped ‘Joseph Fitter Patentee, Britannia Works, 210 Cheapside, Birmingham’ and with coat-of-arms.
