Description:
This is a primitive table and would have been used in a simple country dwelling. The table features four-plank top with a reeded moulded edge. The front and sides of the table is decorated with a shaped apron. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method; this is evident around the body of the table. The table stands on four small elegant baluster turned legs, which are united by stretchers (for added support), and terminate on simple bobbin feet. The table boasts a lovely mellow oak colour and is in good condition.
The table boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The table would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room or the hallway. It would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
This table is in good overall condition. The table has been constructed in the mid Victorian period, from earlier timbers (possibly late 17th or early 18th century timbers). Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top but nothing significant considering the age of the item. No breaks to the legs or stretchers. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a mellow colour and patination. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
