Chippendale Style Carved Giltwood Heron Side Table

Description

Circa 1860, Victorian carved giltwood side table in the manner of Thomas Chippendale or Francis Brody. The shaped top is in red velour, and leads on to a carved and gilded heron with wings spread, standing amongst bulrushes, and finishing on a rocky base. There are drawings of similar tables found in Chippendale’s directory, and also designs supplied to Dumfries House by Francis Brody.
