Quality Victorian Mahogany Antique Card Table with Lion Paw Feet

Dating from around 1850, this quality table is extremely versatile and would most likely be used as a side table when not in use as a games table. It has a beautifully figured top that swivels open to double its size, revealing a concealed games compartment in the process and the playing surface is finished in green baize. This sits above a beautiful carved frieze and stands on an octagonal shaped central pedestal with circular base and carved lion paw feet with castors. The mahogany has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
