The base also inlaid with broad brass stringing & bellflower inlay.
The table is supported by a tapering hexagonal gadroooned collar centre column supported on a gadrooned and panelled tri-partite base, with bold acanthus & hairy paw carved feet.

Gillows of Lancaster were probably the most celebrated of all English furniture makers. They were established in the early 18th C & pieces made by Gillows are very desirable & extremly sought after.
