Georgian Mahogany Ladies Writing Table

18th century
Description

Small size George III mahogany and nicely inlaid with ebony and boxwood stringing Ladies writing table. Square tapering legs with very nice original brass castors. Drawer to the front which is fitted with a sliding leather top with a fitted pen and ink drawer beneath which comes out the side of the drawer. The drawer has its original lock and working key. The top is line inlaid and cross banded round the edge. There is a lift up screen to the rear of the table to protect the ladies makeup from the heat of the fire.

There is an old filled crack to the top which has been well done and doesn't stand out and the table originally would of had a bag underneath but it looks much better without it.

The table has been made from nicely grained mahogany and is a nice mellow colour with waxed finish.
