Pair of George II Style Mahogany Console Side Tables

1900 - 1920
Description

A pair of George II style mahogany console side tables, circa 1900, with Cipollino Verde slab marble tops, the bases with a good colour and surface patina, on four scallop shell and acanthus carved cabriole legs to claw and ball carved feet.

Dimensions: 81cm high, 145cm wide, 54cm deep, the slab tops 4cm thick

Two very similar, period tables were made for Saltram House, Devon, a George II mansion house designed by Robert Adam, and described by Pevsner as ‘the most impressive country house in Devon’.
