Mahogany Stand or Low Table

19th century
Description

A fine Regency mahogany low table or stand; the pillars in simulated rosewood with brass collars and superb carved scroll feet with inset castors.

Probably made to display an Arita bowl with pot pourri, but now with a piece of marble let into the top. Could be used to display a statue.

Note the three holes in the frieze - probably for brass straps holding the bowl in position.
