Stunning Mahogany Dolphin Centre Table

19th century
Description

A particularly unusual and good quality freestanding mahogany centre or library table. The solid figured mahogany top having a well carved edge and shaped frieze with applied carvings of "C'' scrolls, dolphin heads and foliage. To each side are alternate concealed mahogany lined drawers (see photo). The stunning base having an acanthus carved column with 4 carved dolphin supports. The 4 leaf clover shaped platform having a conforming carved edge with applied decorative carving below and the whole stands on 4 shaped feet with scroll toes and brass casters. An unusual piece in excellent condition. Possibly Irish.Circa 1835.
