Description:
The tables feature a rectangular design, constructed from hardwood, probably Hongmu. Each tabletop is designed with an inset top, which is practical, as it stops items accidentally sliding or being knocked off the tops. The frames are heavily carved, with the legs of each table boasting carvings which depict the back of a dragon, working its way up to the top of the legs and emerging as profusely carved dragonhead fretwork friezes. Shaped stretchers unite the carved legs. The tables slide into each other comfortably. All in all, they display superb craftsmanship and are of superb quality.
Condition Report:
This nest of tables is in good original condition. Nominal old used marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of them. The tables retain the original polish and patination, giving them a stunning colour. There is no damage to the carved frames or any missing carving. The legs are sturdy and the tables slide comfortably into each other. They are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
