A George III Rosewood and Satinwood Games Table

18th century
Description

Raised on four out-swept legs supporting a column, all in satinwood and inlaid in ebony and with original brass castors. The upper section is finished all around with "dummy" drawers to three sides and to the fourth a single drawer with brass knobs and ivory escutcheons. The top is banded and has boxwood stringing, it also has two counter trays and two "dummies". The playing surface has a vellom green and gold tooled leather. Interestingly when we removed the original lock to give it a clean and oil we found a makers stamp of "Barron, Patent, Strand" and with the G ? R Royal warrant. 710mm high, 730mm wide and 730mm deep. Circa 1810.
