Description

Superb Victorian burr walnut sewing table in truly fantastic condition, even retaining a deep rich colour. Sewing tables of this quality would have been the preserve of the upper classes and ladies of leisure. An elegant piece yet with a provision of detail. From the cabriole legs, with finely turned stretcher complete with under finials to the unusual octagon and turned side supports which in turn gives way to the inlaid underbox and shapely apron frieze to the lidded sewing compartment. To say that internal fixings are in excellent condition would be a gross understatement. It is almost untouched, a rare event for what would normally see a lot of use through the generations. When closed the top displays an attractive foliate inlaid decoration which perfectly compliments this exceptional piece.
