Description

Pair of early C20th gilded and silvered metal 'wheatsheaf' based occasional tables with circular plate glass tops.

Stylish pair of reception-room low tables of tripod scrolled form , the bases modelled as bound sheafs of wheat or corn . The leaf fronds of a gilded patina and the grain ears of corn in silver patination . The whole sheaf bound with a simulated rope-twist binding .

Topped with loose circular plate glass panels .

Of a type made iconic by the use of such models in the Parisian apartment of Coco Chanel the reknown French couture and fashion designer.

In excellent condition with minor wear to the decoration commensurate with age and use.
