Description:
Constructed in the style of the Chippendale period, which was between 1750 – 1780, it boasts classic Chippendale detailing such as carved floral moulded top, carved gadroon apron, cabriole legs with carved acanthus leaf knees, and the ball and claw feet.
The table benefits from two pull out mahogany slides (to the rear) and two large cock-beaded drawers at the front, that retain the original bass carved swan neck handles and back plates. The drawer fronts benefit from stunning flame mahogany veneers (a sign of quality), with mahogany drawer lining and hand dovetailed joints. The frieze is decorated with astragal beading and central carved floral motifs to the sides and back of the table along with a classical gadroon. Raised on four substantial cabriole legs, which incorporate fine acanthus leaf carvings at the knees, they terminate on pronounced ball and claw feet.

This type of table was designed to stand in the centre of a room, as there is decorative beading and moulding to all sides of the table, along with the pull out slides on the rear.

Condition Report:
This library table is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the table but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The table has been wax polished in our workshops. The table features a new three-piece sage green and gold tool leather. Therefore, the leather is clean and free from any wear, damage, and stains. The drawers retain their original bass handles and back plates, along with key escutcheons and the original working lever locks (with keys). The drawers are mahogany lined and hand dovetailed; which is a further sign of quality. The drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame and table stands on its original legs. There are no missing carvings. The table is solid in joint and ready to use.
