Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The beautifully figured top with its bead-and-dart moulding, opens and swivels to reveal the baize-lined interior, whilst the frieze is decorated with typical Gillows panelled moulding and further bead-and-dart moulding to the lower edge.
c1825-1840.

A wonderful quality and impressive table by this highly regarded firm of cabinetmakers. 36ins wide; 18ins deep (91x45.5cms). ** A virtually identical example is illustrated in "Gillows of Lancaster & London" by Susan Stuart, Volume 1 page 262.
