Regency Satin and Rosewood Sofa Table

19th century
Description

A Stylish Regency Satin and Rosewood Sofa Table, in the manner of Thomas Hope, the well figured satin birch rectangular top, with rounded corners to the flaps and wide rosewood crossbanding, above a pair of frieze drawers with small brass lion mask handles and incorporating mahogany drawer linings; the shaped lopes to support the flaps terminating with turned roundels. Raised on tapering end supports with fan moulded spandrels on block plinths with reeded mouldings and turned roundels, united by a rosewood turned baluster stretcher. Raised on bronzed carved paw feet with ionic capitals and terminating in brass castors. The table is the same on the reverse with dummy drawers so it can be used freestanding.
