Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The table is in lovely condition and stands well. The top of the table reverses to a beautiful sycamore and mahogany chess board and then this is removed (on sliding runners) reveals a backgammon board decorated with inlaid brass roundels.

There is a working lock with a key, the drawers are inlaid with decorative ebony stringing. One side offers working drawers, the other side is matching dummy drawers, this allows for the table to be freestanding within the room. This is an outstanding piece of Regency furniture and would add style to any interior.
