A Fine and rare 18th century Mahogany Chippendale tripod table with bird cage action Circa 1770. The edge of the top carved with ribbons and flowers, the stem fluted and carved with a twist, the leg carved with acanthus leaf terminating in a claw and ball foot. A similar example from the period can be found in Arthur Negus book ,Going for a Song: English Furniture, page 119 plate 56. See image opposite. It is a rare sight to see a table of this quality especially one with a carved edge to the top.
