Superb Regency Rosewood Work Table

A really lovely quality example of a Regency period rosewood work or sewing table. The table stands on a pedestal base with beautifully carved scroll feet, this rises to a hoop support to allow access to the sliding box which retains the original silk pleated cover. The top has small drop leaves to the sides which are supported by the most wonderful carved supports when open. The single drawer retains the original interior and a lot of the sewing items that have been used with it are still inside. The quality of the rosewood is wonderful, with bold strong figuring and the table is finished to the same standard all around it, so it can free stand. This is a country house level piece of furniture and a lovely example. It has faded a little in areas and has the odd mark but it looks like it has just been removed from the house it has always been in. C.1830.
