19th Century Lacquered Bamboo Sewing Table

Description

A lovely 19th Century oriental display table/sewing box decorated in the Japanese taste popular at the time. The lacquered top and panels depict birds, butterflies and blossom. The fall front opens to form a shelf. The table is solid and stable standing on splayed bamboo legs with a pretty trellis design lower shelf. the hinged top opens to reveal a traditional Victorian sewing box, quilted in green satin with yellow satin trim. There is some minor wear to the side panels, shown in the photographs, but the piece is very well presented overall and the bamboo is in excellent condition with a good colour. A delightful piece of Victoriana that would make an unusual gift or add individuality to your interior scheme.
