Regency Period Mahogany Tea Table

Description

Here we have a very elegant mahogany tea table. It was made in the Regency period, around 1815. It is in good original condition but now needs a bit of light restoration.

The top is supported on four slender turned columns and it stands on saber legs, each with its original gilt brass lions paw castor.

The top is inlaid with a broad band of satinwood and the frieze under the top has decorative ebony stringing.

The restoration required is not too extensive. There are a couple of small slivers of veneer missing from the top and the top is slightly wobbly. It could also do with a good polish.

You would not get much change out of £2000 for one of these at a good antique fair so with a little bit of work this could be a good investment.

The maximum dimensions are:

91cm (36“) wide

73cm (28.5“) high

28cm (11“) deep
