Early C19th French Empire-style walnut and fruitwood console table with gilded brass classical-style mounts. Smart hall or console table of practical proportions and height , fitted with a frieze drawer.

The twin-plank figured walnut top above a frieze supported by classically-inspired architectural columns having entasis to the shafts ,and fitted with contrasting carved fruitwood rings and Tuscan-style capitals. The columns from well-chosen figured timber.

The rear raised on flat-section supports. The under-tier base raised on shaped fore feet .

The centre of the frieze drawer with a classical design gilt-brass mount featuring the Goddess of Plenty with cornucopia riding on a cloud in a cherub-drawn chariot , and corresponding classical dancing maidens to the top corners. The lower tier frieze with a central classical gilt-brass flower-head and leaf mount .

In excellent original condition , minor shrinkage cracks to the rear of the lower base platform .

The whole table has achieved a good mellow colour and patina.
