Description

A late 18th / early 19th century oak provincial tripod tilt top table of large proportions and good patina (colour).

This table has a sophisticated design for an oak piece of furniture of this period, but the carving is in a naive manner.

The top consists of a four plank top surrounded by a naively carved moulding leading down to a baluster birdcage which is supported by a fluted canon barrel column with carved ball decoration to the top and base of the column.

The column leads down to a tripod base with cabriole legs, each having carved stylised acanthus decoration, terminating with stylised animal foot.

This table is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
