This type of tray was used both on grand tours and campaigns, but also in wealthy houses for serving drinks. It boasts a top quality over sized front-loading tray. The tray is constructed of top quality single oak plank (sign of quality) and features a mitred joint construction, allowing the tray to slot securely onto the stand, thus preventing it from sliding around. It is reasonably heavy (also a sign of quality) with a stunning colour & patination. The tray displays a turned spindle gallery to the sides and rear, including a central carved motif, including decorative finials in each of the corners. The tray sits on a very good quality turned oak-folding stand with connecting ring-turned stretchers for added strength. The height of the stand can be adjusted using two wooden turned screws on the base. What makes this an unusual and rare example is the fact that it features an over-sized single plank tray and the webbing straps and stand are original.

This tray and table is a truly classic example from the Edwardian period. The level of detail and craftsmanship displayed is second to none. It is rare to see an example, which not only is in excellent condition but also completely original.

The tray features a rich golden oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition.

Condition Report:
It is rare to see an example, which not only is in excellent condition but also is also completely original, even the original webbing to the stand. The level of detail and craftsmanship displayed is second to none. There are no splits to the single plank top either. There are nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item and years of use. The stand is original, as well as the webbing. The wooden tray and stand are all sturdy. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
