19th century Louis XV style gilt console table with original serpentine Carrara marble top, over a pierced scallop edged frieze centred by a scallop shell motif. The whole is elaborately decorated with c-scrolls, foliage, fruit and flowers, the pronounced cabriole legs finishing in lovely scallop shell pad feet. The table is in lovely original condition.
This table once belonged to the Scottish banking family the Seaton''s, who from 1785 until 1911 owned and lived in Ekolsund Castle, Sweden, where this table was in situ in the late 19th century, from around 1870 which is when the table was made.
