Edwardian Metamorphic Writing Table

1900 - 1920
Description

A good quality Edwardian mahogany metamorphic side / writing table. Inlaid with satinwood cross banding between boxwood and ebony lines. The top lifts and the writing surface moves forward to reveal a very well fitted and original interior consisting of - paper holder, stamp box, pen holders, note pads, blotting pad, paper clip, brass lockable ink pot which has lost it's top outer lid, and adjustable wallet all in dark green leather with mahogany pigeon holes. The interior also has silver plated lock, hinges and mechanism. The front, back and sides with double boxwood line inlay with ebony centre. The whole standing on boxwood strung square tapered and flared legs with supporting corner brackets and joining stretchers. An unusual piece in very good original condition with working lock and keys. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland £48. Sizes:- Height...31''...79cm. Width...26''...66cm.
