Description

A rare early/mid 18th century freestanding Irish mahogany corner tea table of superb patina of triangular form.

This table consists of a solid mahogany tray top with a shaped cross grain mahogany moulded frieze leading down to a cross grain moulding with shaped brackets to each end.

The table is supported on three cabriole legs of San Domingan mahogany, each with finely carved scallop shell decoration to the knee leading down to a finely carved ball and claw foot.

This corner tea table can either be placed in a corner or as it is freestanding, can also be placed in the centre of a room.

This table may have been one of a pair, the pair forming a table of square form but also having the flexibility of two corner tables.

Tables such as this seldom come onto the open market and are extremely rare, a real connoisseur's piece.

This table is in excellent original condition for age with some old restoration, it is of stable construction and can go straight into a home or a collection.
