Decorative Japanese Silver Lidded Imperial Satsuma Koro

Description

As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this large imperial pallete satsuma koro , the globular shaped koro stands on a trefoil base and is unusually decorated with a green and gilt trailing leaf design to the entire body, more common imperial style mon are decorated around the koro in traditional iron red,imperial blue, green and gilt enamel decoration, a geometric top border matched to the foot decoration surrounds the most wonderful pierced and chased solid silver lid, the lid also cast with trailing leaf and imperial mon to match the koro,an absolute gem !!

The condition is superb with no damage or restoration.
