Art Nouveau Mahogany Sutherland Tea Table

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900, top quality Art Nouveau mahogany Sutherland tea table. The solid mahogany top has chamfered edges and two long drop flaps with canted corners and inlaid panels depicting flowers in satinwood and tropical hardwoods. The flower heads are inlaid pewter, which is quite popular with the Art Nouveau style of furniture. Below this on each end is a stylish open fretwork bar with a small inlaid flower head in the centre. The uprights are square, and below a shaped stretcher they kick out left and right. There are two further square and tapering legs on brown porcelain castors which support the flaps. Excellent colour and good condition.

Size 69cm high x 69cm wide x 24cm deep opening to 82.5cm.
