Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.

The colour and patination are un-touched and as such the whole piece is a gorgeous colour with waxed finish.
The original beech block has some old worm holes and damage and has at one time been screwed to the top, the bearers are oak, one of which is original, the other is an old replacement.

Basically this is a very nice piece of mid 18th century Georgian furniture made at a time when Cuban mahogany was still plentiful judging by the size of the ONE piece top.
