Description:

Here is a good quality antique English George III oak inlaid lowboy / side table, circa 1780, with excellent proportions and colour, which is in good condition. This table would have been used in a rural property in England during the late 18th Century. The table features a thumb moulded two-plank top, which also has a lovely mellow oak colour to it. Below, there is a large working drawer, with two smaller working drawers further below. The central drawer features a working lock with key. The drawers and oak lined and hand dovetailed. The drawer fronts feature elegant fruitwood & mahogany string inlay with later elegant etched swan-neck brass handles and escutcheons. Decorative shaped spandrels sit below the large drawer, which gives elegant form to the table. The table stands on four simple square legs.

The table boasts a mellow gold oak colour, with a stunning grain configuration to the sides of the table. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:

This table is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and front of the table, including inlay but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All three working drawers close flush to the frame and are hand dovetailed and oak lined. The central drawer features a working lock and key. The table features later brass swan neck handles, possibly Victorian. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic mellow golden oak colour and patination. The table is solid in joint and ready to use.

Knee height = 60cm or 23” or 1ft 11”
